This is one of the beauties of open source software. And even then, anyone else would still be free to pick up right where they left, with the latest version of the open source code and just name it Mixer 3d, or whatever. I understand that the code, the program itself is very difficult to turn proprietary after it’s been open sourced (GPL) for a while like Blender has, because they would have to get the permission of each developer that contributed to the code before they closed it up. There have been cases of proprietary companies purchasing open source companies lately (like Oracle & MySQL IIRC, and some others), but I think that usually all they can really buy is the trademarks (the Blender brand name) and other things like the website, etc, as well as take the lead people on as employees.
